1. What is a Cooperative Preschool?

A group of families organized to provide their children with a quality preschool experience. The preschool is administered and maintained by the parents on a non-profit basis under the guidance of a qualified Early Childhood Educator. Parents assist in the classroom and participate in the children’s education program that emphasizes "Learning Through Play".

2. When are the classes?

The 3's class is Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9:15 to 11:30. The 4's class is Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings also from 9:15 to 11:30. There is a maximum of 15 children in the 3's class and 18 children in the 4's class. Both classes led by our ECE, Leasa Gatschene and supported by two parent assistants.

New for the Fall 08/09 session we are offering a Mon / Wed / Friday 3’s and 4’s combined class. Monday and Wednesday will be a mixed 3’s and 4’s class, and Friday will be 4’s only. Maximum number of children is 18 and classes led by our ECE, Leasa Gatschene and supported by two parent assistants.

4. What are the fees?

3's Class (Tuesdays and Thursdays 9:15 - 11:30 am): $85 / Month Participating Duty Day Parents. New for this year is a Non Participating option for busy parents: $105 / Month. ("Non Participating" Parents are still involved with all decisions at the school and have a job at the Preschool.)

4's Class (Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays 9:15 - 11:30 am): $120 / Month Participating Duty Day Parents. New for this year is a Non Participating option for busy parents: $150 / Month. ("Non Participating" Parents are still involved with all decisions at the school and have a job at the Preschool.)

For the new afternoon 3’s and 4’s combined class : 3 year olds (Monday & Wednesday); $85 Duty and $105 Non-Duty per month. For the 4 year olds (Monday, Wednesday & Friday); $120 Duty and $150 Non-Duty per month.

5. What is a duty day?

A duty day is an opportunity for you to be in the classroom with your child and become an assistant to our ECE. The ECE is in charge of the classroom and your job is to support and take direction from her. You will be expected to give your full attention to the children and try to give every child a fair share of your attentiveness.

6. What if I can’t make my duty day?

If something comes up and you are unable to do a scheduled helper day, you can switch your day with another parent in your class.

7. What if I can’t do the duty days, because I work?

If you are unable to participate in helper days due to work, it is possible to ask another member of your family or a close friend to do your helper days. They will need to complete 10 hours of orientation and attend 1 hour of education each month.

8. Can I bring siblings to my duty days?

No, it is important that on your duty days you are not distracted and you are there to support the ECE. Remember this is an opportunity to spend special time with your child at their school.

9. Why do we fundraise?

Fundraising is vital to meeting the budget of the each school year. The fundraising events are fun and are an opportunity to work together for the benefit of our children. Suggestions for future fundraising ideas are always appreciated.

10. What type of job are parents expect to do?

The parents run the preschool are responsible for the daily operation. There are numerous jobs that need to be filled and we consider individual interests and talents when the jobs are assigned. Typically a job will have a time commitment of 2 hours a month. Here is a list of some of those jobs:
